I still have the full intention on continuing to build up TechnicalConfessions.com. Here are some of the new features I've developed and what I have lined up for the website
Feature #1: Trending Details
I've implemented a simple, yet effective representation on the most and least active topics on this website. This automated process will be refreshed every time the website is accessed.
In order for this to be accurate, and related to the trends of multiple posts, I included the following
- Forget about posts that are 6 months old
If I revised all posts within the category, then the averages of the originals would never be top - The statistic has to be based on more than 1 post
If I new category was created, then it wouldn't be a trend (just the most recent), just 1 post thats now number 1 - Create the trend based on the average upload date between its associates
- Only show the top/bottom 6 topics
- Topics should be removed if it's been inactive for a long time
Allowing others posts to be within decline
For anyone who actually cares, this is the SQL code I created:
select
distinct(category),
DATE_ADD(NOW(), INTERVAL -1 MONTH),
count(category) as counttotal,
avg(lastupdated) as average,
lastupdated from posts
where DATE_ADD(NOW(), INTERVAL -6 MONTH) < lastupdated
and DATE_ADD(NOW(), INTERVAL +6 MONTH) > lastupdated
group by category
having count(category) > 1
order by average
limit 6
Feature #2: Font/Colour alteration
I changed the font and some of the associated colours also. This may not be a noticeable for the average joe though it just makes that website a little sharper and tiny bit easier to read.
Feature #3: New Search Engine
This is my search function now available on my website. It's fairly basic and can only accommodate for specific string values and one word answers though Individuals can now search for specific posts by using words, instead of seeing the recent posts or by reviewing the categories.
I have to say that It will only accommodate alphanumerics to avoid partial SQL injections so if I was looking the specific database error ORA-28001 it will remove the colon and instead search for ORA28001
I have an idea of trends between key words and not just how popular they turn up. Another idea is to highlight the key word within the description or maybe have some notification on the age of the post... all of which will be developed over time I'm sure.

For what I see, there's not too many supportive documentations out there that will demonstrate how provision AD group membership with the ICF connector using OpenIDM. The use of the special ldapGroups attribute is not explained anywhere in the Integrators guides to to the date of this blog. This quick blog identifies the tasks required to provision AD group membership from OpenIDM to AD using the LDAP ICF connector. However this doesn't really explain what ldapGroups actually does and there's no real worked example of how to go from an Assignment to ldapGroups to an assigned group in AD. I wrote up a wiki article for my own reference: AD group memberships automatically to users This is just my view, others may disagree, but I think the implementation experience could be improved with some more documentation and a more detailed example here.
