Update SQL table with condition from same table
Normally, you would use the traditional UPDATE, SET, WHERE DML to update the Oracle SQL database, though how do you update a SQL database using a a sub-query, which is referenced by the same Oracle table?
Normally I would use the following syntax to update a column based on a query...
update BLAH
SET BLAH = BLAH
WHERE BLAH = BLAH
Instead, I used an alternative sql query that has a conditional query within the update, which will update the table by using a sub query.
In this example, I want to populate the manager's e-mail into the user profile. The 'manager' column represents the UID of the manager profile. I want to use this information to update the user's information and include the details of the manager e-mail
UPDATE Globalusers GU
SET GU.secondaryemail =
(SELECT GU2.primaryemail from Globalusers GU2
WHERE GU.manager = GU2.username)
A little tricky to understand at first. So there's only 1 table involved though the query and a sub-query. The condition to marry to data actually resides within the Sub query and there's no WHERE condition within the original query.

For what I see, there's not too many supportive documentations out there that will demonstrate how provision AD group membership with the ICF connector using OpenIDM. The use of the special ldapGroups attribute is not explained anywhere in the Integrators guides to to the date of this blog. This quick blog identifies the tasks required to provision AD group membership from OpenIDM to AD using the LDAP ICF connector. However this doesn't really explain what ldapGroups actually does and there's no real worked example of how to go from an Assignment to ldapGroups to an assigned group in AD. I wrote up a wiki article for my own reference: AD group memberships automatically to users This is just my view, others may disagree, but I think the implementation experience could be improved with some more documentation and a more detailed example here.
