Most people you will come across understand that the java arguments -ms, -mx, PermSize, MaxPermSize etc. need to be set in order for there to be sufficient java memory allocation for Oracle Identity Manager 11g to run. OIM 11g compared to OIM 10g requires a tremendous amount of java allocation. More often than not, when you're running your job schedulers, process forms, or even starting up the system, you may experience "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space". No worries, here are the simple steps to resolve the issue.
As you may be architecturally aware, OIM is installed on WLS by installing separate managed servers on the Admin servers. This is obviously beneficial for management of the servers and management of the java memory allocation.

You may have experienced prior links that informs you to change the java arguments within Weblogic or perhaps change the setEnvDomain.sh setting within the domain... For OIM 11g and SOA 11g, this is the incorrect way
You need to navigate to your domain/bin directory and locate the setOIMDomainEnv.sh (setSODDomainEnv.sh for SOA)
You will notice around line 21 that the overriding parameters have been set. Here is where the parameters should be set for OIM. Make the changes and restart the managed server.
When you start up the managed server, you will also notice that the java argument parameters have been set correctly

For what I see, there's not too many supportive documentations out there that will demonstrate how provision AD group membership with the ICF connector using OpenIDM. The use of the special ldapGroups attribute is not explained anywhere in the Integrators guides to to the date of this blog. This quick blog identifies the tasks required to provision AD group membership from OpenIDM to AD using the LDAP ICF connector. However this doesn't really explain what ldapGroups actually does and there's no real worked example of how to go from an Assignment to ldapGroups to an assigned group in AD. I wrote up a wiki article for my own reference: AD group memberships automatically to users This is just my view, others may disagree, but I think the implementation experience could be improved with some more documentation and a more detailed example here.
