HOW TO: Expand existing hard drive space on a VM Oracle Linux
Here are the step required to expand your hard space on your local VM on an Oracle Linux machine
From my understanding, you have the actual physical hard drive which is within your laptop. Within your VM image, you have a volume group, which contains multiple partitions of that physical hard drive. This volume group is a collection of all the physical harddrives, which can then be broken up into Logical Volumes (which is the hard drive show in the VM image).
Step 1: Allocate Physical hard drive space
You must first shutdown your VM. Then, go to Settings, then Hard Drive and increase the hard space.
Step 2 Create a new Physical partiton
Start the VM back up and open a terminal window. Next, type:
fdisk /dev/sda
Type: p
Type: n for a new partition
Type: 3 The number of cylinders Type w To write and exit
Then Restart your VM image
Step 3: Create a new Physical partiton (pvcreate)
Step 4: Find the name of the Volume group
Shown in the image above, type the following:
vgdisplay
You will need this in the next step
Step 5: Create a new Physical partiton (pvcreate)
To add the physical volume to the volume group, type:
vgextend /dev/sda3
Step 6: Extend existing logical volume
You must first extend the logical volume
lvextend -L+60G /dev/VolGroup/lv_root
As you can see, there's still 1 more step to go. You must now resize the logical volume
resize2fs /dev/VolGroup/lv_root
You should now be able to see the volume has now increased
df -h

For what I see, there's not too many supportive documentations out there that will demonstrate how provision AD group membership with the ICF connector using OpenIDM. The use of the special ldapGroups attribute is not explained anywhere in the Integrators guides to to the date of this blog. This quick blog identifies the tasks required to provision AD group membership from OpenIDM to AD using the LDAP ICF connector. However this doesn't really explain what ldapGroups actually does and there's no real worked example of how to go from an Assignment to ldapGroups to an assigned group in AD. I wrote up a wiki article for my own reference: AD group memberships automatically to users This is just my view, others may disagree, but I think the implementation experience could be improved with some more documentation and a more detailed example here.
