When working on the configuration of the design console within OIM and when I encountered an error.
The initial popup returned 'The code was 'An unknown error code was passed'... utter useless information there! When reviewing the WLS logging, I noticed a more descriptive error log
Caused by: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to lookup 'ejb.stateful.tcDataBase#com.thortech.xl.ejb.interfaces.tcDataBaseRemote' didn't find subcontext 'stateful'. Resolved 'ejb' [Root exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to lookup 'ejb.stateful.tcDataBase#com.thortech.xl.ejb.interfaces.tcDataBaseRemote' didn't find subcontext 'stateful'. Resolved 'ejb']; remaining name 'stateful/tcDataBase#com/thortech/xl/ejb/interfaces/tcDataBaseRemote' at weblogic.rjvm.ResponseImpl.unmarshalReturn(ResponseImpl.java:234)
Soooo, like many IT consultants (because the majority of use are constantly filled with useless code-error knowledge on how to resolve a specific issue), I googled the error code. 2 results pop up and one is me from 2 years ago. I was thinking to to myself OIM 11g Design Console startup issue: Caused by: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException, 'great, I understand most of past-Daniel's blog, this should be a breeze. Noticed the solution... did not work (it's the last time I trust that guy)'. This time round though, I did find the other probable solution.
SOLUTION
By reviewing the xlconfg.xml as mentioned in the previous post, there is a java.naming.provider.url parameter on line 33 that needed to be changed from port 7001 to port 14000
Even though past-Daniel is 2 years younger (and probably more handsome and in better shape back then), he did miss out in his blog the other line that needs to be altered

Because of this, you need to import in the libraries as well as acknowledging the specific board. This process is highly confusion with a number of different individuals talking about a number of different ways to integrate.

For what I see, there's not too many supportive documentations out there that will demonstrate how provision AD group membership with the ICF connector using OpenIDM. The use of the special ldapGroups attribute is not explained anywhere in the Integrators guides to to the date of this blog. This quick blog identifies the tasks required to provision AD group membership from OpenIDM to AD using the LDAP ICF connector. However this doesn't really explain what ldapGroups actually does and there's no real worked example of how to go from an Assignment to ldapGroups to an assigned group in AD. I wrote up a wiki article for my own reference: AD group memberships automatically to users This is just my view, others may disagree, but I think the implementation experience could be improved with some more documentation and a more detailed example here.
